About: l'esprit de l'escalier, a personal definition -- (n.) all the things you wished you had said; the words that live on the tip of your tongue, the back of your throat, the corners of your mouth, the yawning spaces in your heart

This started out as a daily journal blog and it remains, for the most part, a personal affair. But interspersed between my long text ramblings, you may find some Sherlock, Avengers, Les Misérables, Miyazaki, My Little Pony, Tolkien, and Community -- as well as a handful of recipes, DIY ideas and photographs of people in the rain.

And while this is my main blog that has my favorites from a little bit of everything, I also have a fandom blog at meliorists and a poetry/projects/pretty pictures blog at ofwildstrawberries.
September 30th

Spiked cupcakes!! Recipe of my own deviation, adopted from this blog which was linked to me by the amazing and nommable fatties delight tumblr. Made for the APTT party (which are usually referred to as APTDs — A Place to Drink — but for some reason, this one was named APTTouch. Dubious, no?)

Secret ingredient :)

Fresh from the oven

So much nomnomnomness

Cupcakes for grown ups slightly irresponsible young adults

Three good things of the day:

1. These cupcakes, obviously. I enjoy making things for others, and sometimes I feel like getting ready for a party is almost more (or at least just as) fun as the party itself. There’s something in that anticipation, you know?
2. Took some time and downloaded new music, including Lonely Island, the new Florence of the Machines, Coldplay (whose album I’m trying to snag to review for News-Letter), and Eminem. “Shake It Out” and “Lighters” are neck and neck for most played on my iTunes today — the latter’s winning just slightly, if only because Slim Shady drops that beautiful of a beat. New music always makes me happy…new songs for my life soundtrack.
3. Had a really good, long conversation with my mom about life. I forget, sometimes, how wise she is. Like, all right, I know a lot of kids wouldn’t say this about their parents but I would definitely describe my mom as shy — she’s quiet and doesn’t like talking much; she’s the person at the dinner table who kind of just sits off to the side and smiles and laughs and listens. But when she starts talking about God or the Bible or the Church…man, she’s like a completely different person. She’s assertive and determined and articulate and awesome. And she knows what she’s talking about too; there’s a reason for her confidence. So like, I guess this is positive for two reasons: one, I love seeing my mom come out of her shell like that, and two,  well, I miss my mommy. Talking to her was awesome. Having her give me really good advice and be all wise was amazing.
